National Resources Defense Council

The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), the Environmental Law and Policy Center and the Sierra Club are working together to spur development of renewable energy, improve energy efficiency and reduce reliance on coal. The immediate and long-term economic benefits of investment in new technology are recognized. The partners advocate investment in cost-effective energy efficiency in the Midwest. Along with utility companies and regulators, the partners are working to establish infrastructure for electric vehicles and increase wind energy capacity. In addition, they are helping to accelerate the closure of old coal plants and reduce emissions of existing plants. These organizations helped pass and implement legislation that resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars of energy savings annually in Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Missouri, and Ohio.
